Lake Forest, Illinois, 4/2/2014 — In response to the increasing pressure from the media on kids today, Richard L. Hudson has developed an educational program for parents. Called "The Movie-Savvy Parent -- How to Use Cinematic Moments to Build Character," this online, video-based program shows parents how to use movies to instruct, impact, and inspire their children. Hudson is an expert on beliefs and language and has become an educator and advocate for parents as they work to teach values and character in face of wall-to-wall media saturation.

"The latest research shows that kids today spend more time connected to electronic media than they do with their familes, at school, or sleeping," says Hudson. "The parents I talk to want to pass on their beliefs about what is right and wrong, and their values, but most are at a loss as to how to deal with the onslaught of the media. I show them how to use the power of the movies to teach values and character lessons that have impact and power."

After 10 years in televison production and more than two decades as a corporate trainer and Executive Coach, Hudson found a way to put his communications expertise to work. He explained, "As an international coach, I worked one-on-one with clients in multinational companies in 14 countries on 4 continents. Most of the work I did was helping clients develop the beliefs and values that led to personal and business success. I discovered that most of my client's difficulties came from beliefs they developed as children. I began to ask myself whether there was a way to help kids develop powerful beliefs while they were still young."

Hudson stresses that there are dangers hidden in the movies. "Being movie-savvy means learning to find the teaching opportunities while they are happening and using the power of the movie as advantage." He adds, "Parents are exactly the right people to be teaching these lessons. The only reason many don't, is that they've never been taught how."
