The Futurity, with horses foaled 2008 or later that have not competed in any type of barrel race competition prior to December 1, 2012, is an exciting event that offers excitement and unpredictability.
Sanctioned by the Women's Professional Rodeo Association and the Better Barrel Racers, the Diamonds & Dirt Barrel Racing Classic not only has the full attention of horse sport fans worldwide, but also acknowledgment from the most prestigious associations in the sport.
Barrel racing is a rodeo event in which a horse and rider attempt to complete a clover-leaf pattern around pre-set barrels in the fastest time. It combines the horse's athletic ability and the horsemanship skills of a rider in order to safely and successfully maneuver a horse through a clover leaf pattern around three barrels (typically three 55-gallon metal or plastic drums) placed in a triangle in the center of an arena.
