Post-Menopausal Breast Cancer Risk Reduced by Average of 25% reports iHerb Coupon CodeX

San Francisco, CA (PRBuzz.com) February 25, 2013 -- According to new research that is being published in the International Journal of Cancer, women who used supplements than contained isoflavones, including soy, red clover, garlic, and primrose had a 25% reduction in risk of breast cancer.

The women who saw such a reduction in risk had been taking one or more of the supplements for at least five years. Researchers of the University of Toronto reported that the benefits were observed in postmenopausal women, alone.

"Our findings suggest isoflavone supplements are associated with reduced postmenopausal breasts cancer risk," wrote the researchers.

"Furthermore, it appears that isoflavone supplements do not increase breast cancer risk and may represent a possible modifiable approach to reduce risk."

There are 1 million women, per year, who are diagnosed with breast cancer, with the highest rate of instance being in the United States and the Netherlands. China has the lowest incidence of mortality rate in regards to the particular disease.

Conflucting reports have caused some infighting in regards to cause and research methods when it comes to the beneficial effect of soy isoflavones, due the isoflavones being a well known phytoestrogens.

There have been studies to indicate that breast cancer cells were stimulated by the isoflavones in mice. At the same time, population studies conducted by various institutes have noted that women who have a high-soy diet generally have lowered breast cancer rates overall.

Over 3,100 women were analyzed for the latest round of research, while more than 3,400 healthy controls regarding use of 28 isoflavone supplements in Ontario, Cananda. There were thirteen supplements, each being a single ingredient supplement, while the other 15 were multiple-ingredient supplements.

Research results noted that women who took supplements with high isoflavone content supplements saw a reduction of breast cancer of 28% . The decrease went further for long-term users of one-to-five years was 43% overall.

"Our findings of reduced postmenopausal breast cancer risk among women who never used isoflavone supplements are compelling, however study limitations must be considered," wrote a researcher.
