HealthCamp Florida, FMQAI, and TiE Tampa Announce an Unconference, Learning and Action Network and Innovation Showcase

Tampa, Fla (PRBuzz.com) February 7, 2013 --  HealthCamp Florida and FMQAI with TiE Tampa announced their plans to hold HealthCamp Tampa 2013, on Friday, May 10, 2013 on the campus of the University of South Florida.

Using an unconference format, the event is designed to showcase, discuss, and promote the innovations that are transforming healthcare and will focus on technology, process, and policy. The 2013 event will be expanded from the first two years to include more panels, speakers, and topics to provide an abundance of content-rich sessions for attendees. HealthCamp speakers are passionate about innovation and topics are generally timely, relevant, actionable, and practical. The format encourages discussions and networking in a focused and accessible environment.

"This is the third year for this event and is expected to be larger and better than ever. The event will showcase all aspects of the healthcare industry and the innovations in healthcare people are creating in Florida," says Brenda Young, Executive Director, HealthCamp Florida and President, Marbay Group. "As we return to Tampa for the event, we expect to attract hundreds of attendees including executives, scientists, entrepreneurs, front-line healthcare workers, and technologists across the spectrum of healthcare."

The event brings together people across the healthcare industry to have meaningful, in-depth discussions that promote innovation both during and after the event. Space throughout the event location is available to attendees to stop for spontaneous small group discussions. The HealthCamp environment also allows for impromptu sessions throughout the day to put together additional sessions inspired by the event's topics.

HealthCamp Tampa 2013 will also feature a Learning and Action Network (LAN). This format engages physician practices and other stakeholders that influence health care within communities - employers, health plans, government agencies, policy makers, and social service providers - to find ways to collaboratively manage their limited resources to optimize the health of their patients. In addition, the LAN explores innovative strategies for transforming care delivery in physician practices and community settings while providing thought-provoking discussions on healthcare issues dominating today's headlines. Interactive sessions are offered for billing and coding, Medicare Incentive programs, electronic health records (EHR), practice management, ICD-10, patient portals, and health information exchange, just to name a few. Participants in the LAN are equipped with best practices, tools, methods, processes, lessons learned and resources to improve patient care and their bottom-line.

"People who would not ordinarily meet and engage in meaningful discussions can find each other at these events to solve problems, learn about innovations, and develop new and expand existing businesses. Attendees will learn from innovators in healthcare and take back practical knowledge to use in their practices and communities. The conversations continue after the event through participation in initiatives such as online interaction, peer-to-peer education, social media, health apps and more," says Diane Chronis, FMQAI Project Director.

TiE Tampa is participating for the first time at this year's event. "We are pleased to join with HealthCamp Florida and FMQAI to work on such an important event. TiE Tampa is committed to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship globally and the HealthCamp event is a great way to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the region," says Kunal Jain, Tie Tampa Chapter President.
