San Francisco, CA (PRBuzz.com) November 23, 2012 -- The biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs will soon reach the big screen, and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is revealing a few of the plot points about his script.
Sorkin, who won an Academy Award in 2011 for writing the screenplay to "The Social Network," stated that the Jobs biopic will take place in three scenes, and will be done in a real-time approach.
The scenes will take place backstage prior to a product launch for Apple and that the onscreen characters will live a half hour for every 30 minutes of film running time.
Jobs passed away from complications related to pancreatic cancer on October 4, 2011. Sony Pictures announce two days later that they had purchased the rights to his authorized biography, paying between $1 million and $3 million for the rights.
Sorkin is basing his screenplay on his own research and not the information found in the autobiography written by Walter Isaacson.
"I'm meeting with all the people in Steve's life now, from [Apple co-founder] Steve Wozniak to all the people who were around for the Macintosh," Sorkin said in a video posted online. "I've been able to meet these people who revere him in spite of the fact he made all of them cry at one point or another, but he made all of them better at what they were doing."
Sorkin stated he planned to focus on the time prior to the launch of a Macintosh computer, as well as event during Job's tenure helming Next Computer, and finally the time right before the launch of an iPod.
Sorkin said that he was not planning to use any flashbacks to tell the story; instead, he wants to avoid breaking away from the launch event preparations.
An unauthorized movie starring Ashton Kutcher is also being made by an independent studio and plans to take a broader look at Jobs' life.
