(PRBuzz) August 10, 2012 -- A new family travel magazine for the iPad has been launched by independent publisher Buccaneer Ventures, Inc. Family travel is a growing niche in the travel industry and Real Family Travel Magazine is positioned to provide the content readers want, while encouraging them to dream beyond a 1-2 week vacation each year.

"Real Family Travel Magazine was born out of a need I saw for a constantly updated resource for families wanting to travel. Families aren't just interested in destination vacations, but want to know how to extend their 2 week vacations to longer term travel, how to fund their adventures and find some great family friendly locations around the world. I didn't see any such resources in an easy to digest format, like iPad's Newsstand. I saw a need and knew I could fill it," said Susan Whitehead, Editor in Chief.

Real Family Travel Magazine features articles by real families, who have traveled or are currently traveling on a long term basis, and their travel experiences. "The whole premise of Real Family Travel Magazine is to feature stories, videos and tips from families who go on vacations - or travel long term to full time - to real places and have real experiences," Mrs. Whitehead said.

Since those who do the traveling write the stories, readers get a more genuine picture of what's in it for them at various destinations and how accommodating those destinations are for families. "Many travel magazines," said Mrs. Whitehead, "are interested in covering resorts or famous restaurants that cater to adults...places that are not always kid-friendly. Traveling as a family is an educational opportunity that bonds families together and changes everyone. Real Family Travel Magazine's contributing authors understand this and highlight places and experiences many would overlook."

The magazine will cover destinations world wide, as well as family-friendly activities and events. The aim is to introduce families to new places and new experiences, through the eyes of other families.

The feature story in the debut issue is one family's three year PanAmerican journey on bicycles. The mother of the family of four discusses their epic trip from Alaska to Argentina. Other locations covered in the first edition are Australia, Mexico, Spain, the Sahara Desert and Washington D.C. The edition also discusses some important French phrases to learn before heading to France, as well as packing tips for Asia.

Additionally, the magazine has a unique section - Ask the Traveling Teens. Written by 2 traveling teenagers, they take questions from readers and answer them. Questions can be submitted via a form on the magazine's website.

The magazine is looking for contributors. Writers, photographers and videographers are needed. Mrs. Whitehead said she is looking for stories and information about anywhere a family can enjoy traveling.
"If it's a place you visited as a family, we'd like you to share with our readers," she said. "You don't have to be a professional writer."

Real Family Travel Magazine, like every magazine, welcomes advertisers. "If you are interested in targeting a family market, a family that travels, takes vacations or travels long term and looks for new places to go and see, this is the publication for you," she said. "We have a paid-subscriber base so you know your message will get into the hands of people who want to see it and are proven buyers."

Because Real Family Travel is an iPad magazine, ads have the ability to be interactive. Readers can simply click on the ad to visit an advertiser's website. Since all past issues of the magazine will be available indefinitely, advertisers get continued exposure from an ad placed in issues over an extended period of time.

iPads are increasingly becoming a device of choice for travelers and you can hardly glance around any airport in a major city worldwide without seeing someone using one. A subscription to Real Family Travel Magazine is available for $1.99 or individual issues can be purchased for $2.99. It's published in English.

With the ability to display maps, book reservations and find nearby attractions, more and more people are turning to their iPads as a travel resource. Advertisers can capitalize on ad placement in Newsstand magazines to drive traffic to an app or website that targets travel related products or services.

"It just makes sense to put your message in front of the people who are looking for it," she said. "Interactive advertising gives people what they want when they want it."
