Heatwave Dating: Capital Dating Ideas

(PRBuzz.com) July 24, 2013 -- The heatwave has hit London, and all across the city, couples are basking on the sunshine, enjoying strolls along the river, bike rides through the park and gelato in the shade. Perhaps you have recently met a match through an exclusive dating agency and are looking for an exciting way to spend the weekend, or perhaps you're excitedly planning your first date with someone and hoping to impress. Here are Bowes-Lyon Partnership's top five dating ideas for summer in the capital city.
1. Ice Bar
Cool off in the refreshing Heddon Street retreat, where temperature hit -5 degrees and drinks are served in receptacles made purely from ice. Every guest will receive a fetching blue cape to wear to protect from the cold, so there are no worries about first-date wardrobes, and the bar makes the perfect getaway from the stifling London heat. Head here for evening drinks or an early afternoon starter before heading out to make the most of the sunshine.
2. Open-Air Cinema
The Luna Cinema at Hampton Court Palace is the perfect alternative to a traditional cinema date this year. Enjoy a champagne picnic under the stars in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace, hire a blanket to cosy up with and enjoy a host of classic and contemporary movies. Grease and and Some Like It Hot cater for those who love good classic, whilst the modern film fans must not miss Les Miserables and the recent Oscar-winning Life of Pi.
3. Vintage Bike Tour
Many who live in London can often be heard saying that there are still tourist attractions and famous sights that they haven't had time to see. A vintage bike tour is a great way to see a hometown from a completely different perspective; cycle over Tower Bridge and weave through the alleyways of the East End and take in some of London's most famous sights; perfect if one of the person on the date is an out-of-towner. If you're feeling brave, you could even opt for a tandem!

4. Horses in Hyde Park
When living, working and dating in London, it can be all too easy to become caught up in a constant chain of bars, restaurants and brunches. Riding horses in Hyde Park is a great dating idea for someone who was brought up in the country and wants the opportunity to get back to their roots. Hyde Park Stables offer horse riding lessons in Central London; perfect for the city-dweller who is tired of cocktails and aperitifs.
5. Open-Air Theatre
If you find cinema a little passé but want to experience some open-air art this summer, take your date to one of London's many open-air theatre events. The mainstream Regents' Park open-air theatre is currently showing reinterpretations of Pride and Prejudice and the Sound of Music, whilst the Principal Theatre Company will be touring London parks over the summer with their production of The Comedy of Errors. Whether Shakespeare floats your boat, or you want a traditional sing-along musical, open-air theatre is a fabulous dating idea for London professionals this summer.
