GARDEN CITY, NY (PRBuzz.com) May 21, 2013 -- The NuHealth Foundation, the philanthropic arm of NuHealth System, will honor Roger L. Simpson, MD, MBA, FACS, president of the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (LIPSG), with its Heroes in Health award.
The award will be presented at the Foundation's annual gala on June 27 at Oheka Castle in Huntington
In addition to being both president and a partner at LIPSG, Dr. Simpson is the director of residency training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) in East Meadow, as well as chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery, director of the burn center and chief of the hand surgery service.
"For his excellence, commitment and his long-standing relationship to Nassau University Medical Center, it's particularly fitting to pay tribute to Dr. Simpson," said Deidra Parrish Williams, executive director of NuHealth Foundation. "Before he went on to become an exceptional physician and part of our leadership and training team, he completed his residency training at NUMC. Honoring him in a way that generates support for our future brings the relationship full circle."
Dr. Simpson completed his general surgery residency in 1978 and his plastic surgery residency in 1980 at NUMC. He has directed the hospital's plastic surgery residency program since 1989. He also a past president of the NUMC medical staff.
"I am particularly honored to be recognized by the NuHealth Foundation," Dr. Simpson said. "My work at NUMC has afforded me the ability to ensure that patients from all backgrounds receive the highest standards of care."
The NuHealth Foundation is the philanthropic entity responsible for generating support for the NuHealth System, which includes Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow; A Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility in Uniondale and five federally qualified family health centers throughout Nassau County.
