Floating Hot Tub that Turned Heads finally Goes on Sale reports HotTubWorks.com

San Francisco, CA (PRBuzz.com) October 16, 2012 -- A Dutch man has invented a floating hot tub that he calls the Hot Tug.

The boat holds 2,000 liters of water, can accommodate up to eight people and is heated by a wood-burning stove. The Hot Tug is the brainchild of Frank de Bruijn of Rotterdam, Netherlands. A colleague says that the idea came naturally to de Bruijn, 41.

"He's a born shipperman, so he was always on a boat," Jochem Karstanje told ABC News. "His dream was to combine his passion for boats and something for public spaces, and he loved to go in a hot tub. So for him, this was obvious."

Water in the hot tub can be kept at 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit no matter the temperature of the water outside.

"You just place some logs in there, you heat it up, and then the water starts to heat," said Karstanje, who also is sales manager for Hot Tug. "It's as simple as that."

And Karstanje, 33, of Amsterdam, says the vessel is tough. "I can tell you, it's unbelievably stable," he said. "You can stand on the side, and then jump in the water, but with 2,000 liters of water in it, it's quite heavy and stable."

The Hot Tug won't be light on your pocketbook, either. Two models are available, starting at $14,000. For $21,000, the more luxurious model includes a stainless steel wood-burning heater and an electric engine. It went on sale in September.

"It's so unique and everybody's fond of it," Karstanje said. "You're even fond of it before you try it, but trying it is really awesome. People watching you are like, 'What is happening? I can't believe my eyes.'"

Karstanje said the Hot Tug, which comes in black, blue, green and orange, is getting "unbelievable" attention.

Survey finds Hot Tub is No. 1 Status Symbol for Britons, reports HotTubWorks.com

According to a survey of the Top 10 most-wanted things for the household, spas beat out 3D televisions and walk-in wardrobes. The study by De'Longhi, a maker of gadgets, questioned 4,000 adults.

"It's fascinating to see how status symbols move with the times and fashions over the decades," Mark Swift of De'Longhi told The Mirror.

In the 1990s, beige carpets and black dining room sets were in. In the '70s, it was color television and the Sony Betamax. Rewind 20 more years and you find electric toasters and foam sofas in the top five most-wanted.

"Some are very clearly of their time and don't date particularly well, whereas others become widely accepted as the years go by, to the point that eventually no home is without them," Swift said.

Although hot tubs are today's No. 1 status symbol overall for men and women to flaunt for friends and family, the result differs if measured by gender alone. For men, the biggest must-have is a state-of-the-art stereo system. For women, it's a walk-in wardrobe.

Other household devices in high demand are Aga cookers, gas barbecues and 3D TVs. One in five respondents admitted that they pointed out their new acquisitions to visiting friends and relatives. And one in four women said that buying such status symbols is more exciting than shopping for a new pair of shoes.

"Styles and fashions may come and go," said De'Longhi's Swift, "but it seems we'll never tire of buying things for the house to act as status symbols."

Survey respondents predicted that in 2020, the most desirable objects will be a dishwasher that puts away dishes and a shower that will blow-dry hair.

London even throws in a bit of Halloween madness, and hosts the Nomad cinemas, which were held in graveyards showing scary movies like the Shining. However, as the weather gets colder. The viewings have to go indoors.

Consumer watchdog Choice recently conducted a review of 17 of Australia's more popular toothpastes. The organization discovered that regardless of marketing, most perform equally.

"Brands are constantly searching for a point of difference to market their products, but the ingredients speak for themselves," said Ingrid Just, Choice spokesperson. "In reality, you're paying extra for essentially the same product."

The review found hardly any difference in the ingredients of the lowest-costing toothpaste ($1.27) and the most expensive ($7.99). In fact Colgate Advanced Whitening toothpaste ($3.99 for 110g) and Woolworths Home brand Freshmint toothpaste ($1.27 for 150g) share many ingredients.

Even those toothpastes claiming to offer "teeth-whitening" do not contain additional ingredients, such as bleaching agents, according to the review. For instance, White Glo Extra Strength Coffee & Tea Drinkers Formula at $4.69 for 150 g and Coles Smart Buy regular toothpaste at $1.27 for 150g are essentially the same as far ingredients go.
"The only real difference is that the White Glo product contains rosehip oil and a carnauba wax sourced from a Brazilian palm tree. Experts we spoke to believe this wax would have little impact on removing stains," said Just.

Toothpaste is only the latest product to be analyzed for misleading marketing terms. Other products use phrasing such as "99% fat free," or display the Australian flag in an attempt to appear official.

"99% fat free distracts the customer from the high levels of sugar in the product," said Just. "Also products such as cosmetics and yogurts have pseudo-scientific names which are trademarked giving the consumer the impression they have scientific benefits, which may not have been proven."

Secretary Huhne Touts Local Green Energy after seeing Solar Powered Canopy

Hunhe told Get Surrey that renewable energy sources were "going to be expensive", but that "for too long, Whitehall's dogmatic reliance on 'big' energy has stood in the way of the vast potential role of local authorities in the UK's green energy revolution." The secretary continued, saying:
"Forward-thinking local authorities such as Woking have been quietly getting on with it, but against the odds, their efforts frustrated by the law. I've taken the early step of overturning the ban on local authorities selling renewable electricity to the grid."

Statistics show that only .01% of electricity generated in England comes by way of local authority-owned renewable sources, despite the wide-range of options that exist. On August 8th, the ban on local authorities selling renewable energy is set to end and the Department of Energy and Climate Change speculates that councils across Wales and England could make up to $340 in income by selling their locally-made power.

In a letter written to all councils, Secretary Huhne urged councils to "lead a local energy revolution."

"This is a vital step to making community renewable projects commercially viable, to bring in long-term income to benefit local areas, and to secure local acceptance for low carbon energy projects."

Contention remains about the ability of renewable energy to be worth the effort. Earlier in 2012, a report on the solar-power generating Woking canopy emerged detailing that the amount of energy the canopy generates does not keep up with maintenance costs.

In May, Councillor John Kingsbury said that the project's success was never meant to be measured by the metrics of income-generation.

It is not only for therapy to injuries, but general fatigue as well as wear-and-tear that can be benefited by a spa. Whether it is due to heavy workouts, active lifestyle, or general soreness, spas can aid in regeneration of vitality and muscle fatigue repair.

Brady noted that the Michael Phelps swim spa appeals to many people who want an enhanced spa routine.

"It really hits everything. You can sit down and relax muscles, use it to train for triathlons, and for rehab."

Ashley Cole, Andy Caroll, and Jermaine Defoe were among those who had the rather royal bath.
The royals were present as they took a tour of the new $120-million training grounds. They also took part in a game that tested their reaction time while present on the grounds.

Prince William had Cole, a England starting defender, feeling a bit flush as he confronted him on his recent outburst regarding the new grounds.

Cole had said that the FA was run by "a bunch of t****," when a panel in charge of disciplinary action doubted his claim of John Terry making racially insulting remarks toward QPR's Anton Ferdinand. William is the President of the Football Association, and decided to have some fun with the national player.

The exchange who wholly light-hearted as William spoke to Cole and the rest of the team during his visit. All while the media buzzed around them as one would expect.

William praised the St. George's Park as "beyond compare", adding, "It gave me the same feeling I had when I first visited Olympic Park."

"St George's Park and the concept that underpins it is something totally new," Williams said. "It will be far more than a world-class training facility for our future world-beating national team."
William also joked, "I want to say 'Thank God for Harry, England, and St. George' but I don't want to lower the tone by bringing my brother into it."

The FA has played down the hopes of many that England will win the World Cup in 2014. It stated that the benefits of the facility should be seen as more than simply raising short-term expectations, and should be seen as a chance to improve players "for a decade and or more."

Chairman Bernstain said the complex met the visions set forth by the association.

"St George's Park now sits alongside Wembley Stadium as the most inspiring homes for English football."

The vote by the Board - comprised of leaders from BizFed's more than 100 business organizations across LA County representing nearly 200,000 businesses - reflects the clear message of the grassroots alliance's members in a recent survey. In the October survey, 58% of BizFed members surveyed opposed Proposition 30, while 68% of those surveyed supported Proposition 32.

"We all support excellent schools, but Proposition 30 doesn't put any new money into the schools or guarantee the $6 billion a year tax increase will make it into our ailing classrooms," said BizFed Chair John Kelsall, President and CEO of Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce.

"Our members have clearly spoken: They want to see the legislature and the Governor make real fiscal reforms - and not use our schools and schoolchildren as innocent pawns," said BizFed CEO Tracy Rafter.

BizFed's Board of Directors opposes Proposition 30 for several reasons, including:
• Instead of providing new funding for schools, Prop. 30 is a "shell game" that allows the revenues to be spent on anything in the budget.
• It hurts consumers. By making California's sales tax the highest in the nation, working families will bear more costs for everything from gas to clothes.
• It is especially damaging to millions of small businesses that will face a double whammy of higher income and sales taxes, as most small businesses pay income, not corporate taxes.
• There's no reason our elected officials need to ask for more money. This year's state budget is $5 billion higher than last year's. They need to better prioritize their spending - starting with education.

"Proposition 30 simply bails out our politicians - raising taxes to pay for more spending, with no corresponding meaningful reforms to pensions, education or regulations that would save taxpayers money," said BizFed Founding Chair David Fleming.

"Business leaders support Proposition 32 because it protects individuals from having money taken without their consent for political purposes - and takes a huge step toward making elected leaders more accountable to the people who elect them," said Fleming.

With harvest coming to an end, it looks as if there is going to be plenty of grape supply for this year. Classe Wines is an online merchant of California wines and is hopeful about the 2012 vintage.

Earlier reports out of California indicated a high quality wine yield, but lower volumes. As it turns out, the quantity of wine grapes from California is going to be just fine this year, making 2012 one of the most near-perfect vintages California has ever seen.

In prior years, California planted grapes that were consistent with the highest demand wines like Moscato or Cabernet Sauvignon. This year, the plantings are balanced over a variety of wines, putting California in a superior position. This year, there is not nearly the quantity of foreign wines for import due to horrible weather conditions in Europe.

Much of the grape crop in Europe was decimated by bad weather. In past years, there has been an abundance of foreign wine ready for import to the United States. This year that is not the case and California, with their successful harvest has a great position to supply the domestic demand of wine.

The expectation out of California is 450,000 tons of crushed grapes, one of the highest yields in decades. Washington is expecting 200,000 tons of grapes, as well. The Northwest is going to be producing very high volumes of wine this year.

Demand for wine has not decreased in recent years, even with the economic recession. Winemakers are not predicting a slowdown in demand any time soon. Luckily, experts are not predicting huge spikes in prices even with the increase in demand.

The attendees came from all over Florida and represented a cross-section of the technology community in the local region including the Microsoft .NET community, the open source community, iPhone / iPad app developers, social media and the startup community. It was a day to mix, mingle, learn, discuss new technologies, network and meet other passionate enthusiasts.

Tom Tinsley has been an Enterprise Architect for many large organizations, including Nielsen Media. He discussed one of the most significant needs in software development today--how to manage complexity. Tom noted that "People and organizations are creating a lot of data--customer information, blogs, videos, etc. Most of this data isn't in a format that works with traditional databases." Tom explained how major business applications that affect every industry can combine their data to achieve a better and more timely understanding of it.

"It was fantastic having the Tampa CodeCamp back after a one year hiatus. Code Camp speakers covered the latest in Microsoft technologies noted Keith Kabza from VisualGov, "We were happy to have our speakers presenting on such areas as development for Windows 8, Cloud, apps for phones, interface and experience design, new techniques and much more."

One of the BarCamp panels covered Startup Marketing and was led by Daniel James Scott and featured various marketing professionals such as Peter Radizeski, Chris Kluis and Victoria Edwards. They discussed how startups could effectively market their product, build brand advocacy and useful tools to track conversion on a company's website.

"I was thrilled to participate in the first-ever control vendor showdown," said Anand Raja, Technical Evangelist with Infragistics. "It was an innovative idea that exposed the community to cutting-edge tools, empowering them to deliver the best user experience for their customers."

Matt Cowley's "Coding is Dancing" talk was "hilarious and insightful," according to attendee Aubrey Goodman. The talk highlighted the similarities between creating works of art such as music, writing, and dance, and creating applications. When asked how this year's event stood out, Goodman stated, "It was amazing to see so many people! When a grassroots community can muster over a thousand people to take interest in a technology conference, it's hard to write that off. Tampa has established itself as a leader in technology and 21st century thinking, and I'm proud to be a part of it!"

Nick Scarsella, one of the organizers for the event said, "I would like to thank everyone who made this event possible, the attendees, our sponsors, our volunteers, the organizers and the University of South Florida's University College Continuing Education team who gave us such a warm welcome and fabulous facilities for the day."

VO Financial Corporation - Inspired Vacations - Better Way

"The original cost of this ownership will carry mortgage payments of around $300 per month and an annual maintenance fee of around $900 which brings your total to $4500 per year," said Wendy Cheung , Director of Accounting for VO Financial Corporation.  "If you take $4500 a year and divide that by the seven nights of vacation you are spending $907 per night for the first 10 years of your ownership.  The worst part is you are spending $907 a night for seven nights of vacation regardless of availability or whether you are able to travel," says Wendy Cheung , Director of Accounting for VO Financial Corporation.

"Even assuming your maintenance fees never increase," said Cheung, "after paying off your 10 year mortgage, you will still be locked into paying an average of $125 per night.  In all likelihood, however, the maintenance fees will increase each year to outrageous levels, making it even more difficult to find value in your timeshare.  VO Financial can help," she says.

Many timeshare owners are sold on multiple false promises that never come to fruition.  The majority of timeshare owners upgrade 4 to 5 times on average.  Ironically, these upgrades are purportedly provided in order to rectify a problem with a timeshare owner's account, making the timeshare owner believe they are receiving more for their money.  Often, however, timeshare owners are presented with fabrications of how the product will actually work and distortions about their purchase being a financial investment which could yield a return.  Consumers are sometimes told that they could later sell their property for a profit, rent out their unused ownership for income, or even that the developer will purchase the ownership back from them later.

One of the most common pitches utilized in the timeshare sales industry is the "rental pitch".  Sales representatives create a false sense of security by telling timeshare owners that they can rent out their ownership in order to offset the annual costs.  Owners quickly discover this is not the case and then every company they attempt to rent through steals their money and does nothing for them.
